NFL quarterback Peyton Manning did something pretty incredible this week when he was interviewed by Jimmy Kimmel. The talk show host has made no qualms about his political leanings in the past, and this interview was no exception.
During the interview, Kimmel did his best to bait Manning into trashing President Donald Trump, however, Manning wasn’t feeding into the nonsense, and Kimmel didn’t receive the satisfaction he was so desperately chasing.
Kimmel questioned Manning about his choice to play golf with President Trump, but Manning wasn’t about to crack.
Manning calmly answered, “I heard Arnold Palmer say one time, ‘If the president of the United States ever asks you to play golf, you do it. It’s a no-brainer.’ And it was a fantastic experience.”
The football player went on to say that he had golfed with former President George W. Bush in the past as well.
Manning went on, “If President Obama or President Clinton asked me, I’d have been there in a heartbeat. It was just the experience of playing with the office that was pretty cool to me.”
Then, Kimmel took it a step further and felt it was appropriate to mock President Trump’s integrity with the question, “Did he cheat? Did he cheat when you played?”
Manning joked back with Kimmel, giving him a taste of his own medicine, saying, “No, I counted his strokes. He was a great host. He loves sports. And we passed through a number of groups. He was very gracious. He took a picture with the group that we passed through.”
It’s great to see Peyton Manning standing up for President Trump when so many people are willing to give into the anti-Trump mentality. He truly is an American patriot.
